I like Grohl and he seems like a genuinely decent guy, but he has a tendency to overstate his point. Like his old man rant at the Grammys against electronic music just made me cringe and feel kind of bad for him. I knew what he meant, but he said it in the worst way possible.

Yes, we shouldn't "keep score" for music. It's dumb. But music reviews from a trusted source are absolutely vital for those of us who don't live in LA or NY and can't hear every hip band on any given night.

It really was great. He's a pretty amazing human being

No he is a big advocate of the "human element" he thinks music should be a wordless conversation between humans and he's against the mentality that comes with electronic music. However is also a big advocate listening to whatever makes you feel something so take it fwiw.
