surprised nobody has posted about d's new album.
ive been bumping sugah daddy all day.
album isn't quite voodoo, but its damn good.
brown sugar is still his best work imo.
not sure who is on drums, but it sounds like karriem riggins, super crisp and dillaesque.

Listened to it yesterday as my son is a college DJ (yes, I'm "older") and talked about how good it was. I hated to ruin it for him, but I REALLY like it! Lots of old school R&B sound, even some that sounds like the oldest Prince stuff.

Eh I started a thread this week about it and wasnt thrilled enough to follow up
Sugah daddy was the early leak off the album and maybe the best track. its a natural progression from voodoo 14yrs ago in terms of sounding more polished, less raw and filthy which is what made voodoo amazing

I dont think it sounds "polished"
Its no voodoo, but theres songs with grimey slide guitar, tracks with brass blaring, songs with the vocals so low in the mix its hard to find them.

Agreed. I haven't listened with headphones, yet, but it's pretty fuzzed out on my (admittedly shitty) speakers.
