quote:I can feel the emotion of the Shinedown song.
To say that Shinedown did that song better is absolutely crazy.
I can't feel Skynyrd's emotion come through.
I like the Skynyrd version, but Shinedown nailed it to the wall.
That song is very personal to me, since it captures the essence of my father.

I bet your father would slap you if he knew you said that Shinedown was better at anything than anyone

Are they the cool band to hate now?
I have trouble keeping up.

IDK...I never heard of them until a week ago.
But I know they were terrible.
And if Simple Man embodies your father he would slap the shite out of you for saying Shinedowns version is better.

I think they are pretty damn good at what they do. . .

FIFY. I'm sorry dude, the Shinedown version can't touch Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Mettalica's version of Thin Lizzy's Wiskey in the Jar...
I like Thin Lizzy's version better, but even they were covering it.

that was funny
why would shinedown version remind you of father, but not LS???
although i dont agree with the poster opinion on which is better - to each his own. if he likes it, he likes it. but how can you say the original has no passion or feeling?!?!? thats one of the reasons that make it great

quote:I think it's in the vocals. Normally I'd say Skynyrd for the vocals. . .but in this instance, Shinedown sings the song with a pure honesty, and that is what the song is about.

People who hate Shinedown for selling records will never see that.

The original annoys the crap out of me.
Anyone objective would say that cover is much much better.
