Why doesn't he seem to play any shows in LA? Maybe he used to and it was just before my time.

I think he is really interested in taking zydeco to a wider audience, but it is a little sad that he doesn't play anything local...But there are enough cajun acts around southern Louisiana to keep me entertained

He was the biggest thing in zydeco in the late 90s and he probably got all he could out of Louisiana then.
Also the market is pretty big for cajun and zydeco acts outside of Louisiana as a novelty show mainly at festivals.

He used to play a Thanksgiving show at El Sidos in Lafayette all the time. He generally plays at Jazz Fest every year. Got to meet him in 2009, great guy!

Buckwheat Zydeco is a seriously talented musician. You ever see him play an organ? He is bad arse.
I think of him as the James Brown of Zydeco.
I wish he'd play in Lafayette more often. I get really tired of seeing Keith Frank.
