To the Fillmore the Thursday before Voodoo!!!!! Playing a pre Voodoo show before they play Voodoo Sunday. Ask and ye shall receive for me with this request lately. Not sure how this happened. They did similar with Lolla and HOB Chicago, but they had this date booked I’m pretty sure. I’d given up hope and checked for shits and giggles.

They are awesome live! One of my favorite bands. They still play some of their harder stuff even though they’re trying to transition to more of a pop sound

I got to see them kill it at Download Fest in 2014 before Oli’s vocal troubles really started kicking in.

I’m still excited as hell though. I wanted this show so bad, and miraculously got it. They look like they have a ton of fun in the smaller venues and this setlist will probably have 3-4 more That’s the Spirit/Sempiternal songs on it if the past is any indicator.

I had a feeling this would happen. The last time they played here was 2014 and a one hour afternoon st at Voodoo sounded strange.

Yeah that was a great duckin time. For once, everything fell right into place for a show. Small venue. Barricade middle despite getting there at 2:30 PM. Oli was drinking, which for entertainment purposes was great. Not sure if that’s cool or not for him. He was cutting up. At one point, this poor fan...gets brought on stage cause he’s all excited and didn’t know the words to “Antivist”. Dude had the least graceful exit ever. So uncomfortable. And oli at one point changes the lyrics to “trying to figure out why I let that chump on stage”. Kind of a dick move, but it was ducking hilarious. That dude represented every 190 lb dickbag that crowd surfs through a mostly female crowd. Felt great. Oli got after some of his screams tonight too.

I enjoyed it for the most part. Obviously wish there was more older material, but that's how it goes.

As for the Fillmore, what an oversized and overpriced tit.

That's why this pull was important to me because Voodoo was nearly half Amo. Most of the extra songs come from TTS and Semp. Amo was cooler live, but the shows are just different energy wise, but the girl next to me said Amo killed their live attendance since she goes everywhere to see them. Oli was just more relaxed and fun than he normally is. He attacked more songs than he does most times because of his vocal issues. Was a good one to get. He did not give a frick that night. Was nice to see him chill out for once.

I couldn’t go due to work issues. But I hope their poor attendance for voodoo doesn’t screw nola with them coming here again. I know the weather was a big problem this year for voodoo, so hopefully they blame that.

But nola music market sucks

They couldn’t fill the Fillmore. Granted, it was on short notice and came out of nowhere (I listen to them all the time and found out by randomly looking in October for instance). The Fillmore showing will frick Nola in the future more than the voodoo one will. Even for short notice and in a post Amo world, I’ve seen too many shows with staggeringly small crowds around here before.

That is surprising. Amon Amarth had maybe around 800 people with a great lineup but that's about average for them. The Fillmore is really big though.

No voodoo and they fill the Fillmore I’d bet on it. But I mean most people aren’t like me looking up setlist differences and checking to see if they are coming randomly in October after adding a date out of nowhere well after announcing the tour leg.

It’s still not a good look. This band should not have a problem selling out 1500-2000 people anywhere for a small show like that.
