One of the truly less appreciated country greats. Detroit City, 500 Miles, Streets of Baltimore, Marie Laveau...

I’ve always thought he was America’s Gordon Lightfoot. Not that I’m comparing. Simply put, a beautiful and thoughtful storyteller. Writer, lyricist, and singer.

One of my favorites of his: Bobby Bare - Come Sundown

He is a pure badass. His latest album posted below contains a remake of a Mary Gautier song called I Drink. The delivery is incredible.

Bare- I Drink (and entire album)

Absolutely agree. His rendition of "I Drink" is one of the best country songs of the last 10 years

I was just listening to 500 miles the other day. My grandpa listened to that song while trying to find work in Chicago for a bout a week. That song reminded him of home.

quote:

"The All American Boy" is a 1958 talking blues song written and sung by Bobby Bare, but credited by Fraternity Records to Bill Parsons, with songwriting credit to Bill Parsons and Orville Lunsford. While Bare was in the army, Parsons lip synced the record on TV. The song reached #2 on the Billboard charts,
