They're pretty challenging. Like a noise version of Alt-j or something at times. They're all like17 years old too.

They seem like really talented guys and a lot of people whose opinion I respect are really into them, but I couldn’t get into it.

Many many thank yous for posting that, because it led directly to me finding the Battles set. now I’ve fallen down a Don Caballero rabbit-hole. Ones All Over The Place! haven’t listened to either in ages.

The Battles set is how I stumbled upon Black Midi.
As for Don Cab, Peter Criss Jazz is probably my all time favorite instrumental. Really, Don Cab started me on the road to Black Midi.
Side note, Baton Rouge producer Fred Weaver (Apocalypse the Apocalypse) was the opening act on Don Cab's final tour. I recommend checking out the article he wrote about it. I also recommend never asking Ian about Don Cab.

It's a very free form song. They never seem to play it them. Very, very talented dudes for their age.
