both shows are now on the archive and nugs should have the soundboard audio up soon as well. Friday is a straight up rocking good time and Saturday is a spacier more adventurous trip. Put together there is no question those are the best live music I’ve ever seen in person
Can’t wait for this spring

For 3 nights leading up to and culminating on New Years eve again next year. He's playing 2 nights in April in Mobile.

great seeing you buddy. I have seen BMFS 4 times now and i walk away more impressed each time. mire/long forgotten dream from night 1 was my highlight. Along from the mire is the song that got me into Billy

wouldn't be surprised if Strings headlines one of the Jazz Fest dates and/or squeezes in 1-2 shows at a local venue during this time frame ... JF is 4/28 ~ 5/7. BS has a 2-week break in his 2023 tour from 4/23 to 5/10.
Personally, I'd rather the band schedule 2 shows at a venue outside of JF. Typically, daily headliners only play from 5:30 to 7:00, and a BS show with 2 set lists will last 3 hours easily. Only downside, tickets will likely sell out in less than 10 minutes.

First time seeing them with Alex. Hard to imagine the sound any other way now.
Great show. Great venue. Can’t wait to catch a few runs this year

Billy Strings is so awesome. Love how he and Goose are bringing life to the scene.

I originally went to the show because I wanted to hear him play the guitar. I knew he was a great guitarist from YouTube live jams. Point is I was not a "bluegrass" fan and honestly knew of only 1 or 2 of his bluegrass songs.
However, after the concert I began have been listening to his playlist on Spotify and Billy and the Band, songs lyrics are simply fantastic.
I am now trying to figure out the bluegrass genre and how they do it without a drummer to keep time. Its amazing to say the least.
In bluegrass, is it traditionally the banjo and/or mandolin keeping the beat with the bass or is it just the entire group??
either way

bluegrass instruments are played off-beat or ahead of the beat as opposed to rock/blues which are played behind the beat.
it’s why the energy is higher and the playing is faster. Bluegrass is very similar to gospel in that melodies are played in the round with instruments taking turns
billy gets out there pretty often but he does play and write his songs within a pretty strict bluegrass framework. He’s just a better player and songwriter than anyone else, his popularity is purely on merit
