To be honest, I almost put M&A as mine too because I didn't discover Modest Mouse until 2004, and M&A was the first album I listened to by them, followed by lonesome crowded west. These two albums would be on my list if this were a best of the last 16 years thread.

I almost said The Dirty South as well, but Decoration Day has Isbell's best work with the band. Goddamn Lonely Love is more amazing once you realize he's singing about the bassist.
