This Lennon McCartney tune as done by Stones and Beatles. Stones version actually released first.

Stones

Beatles

Stones version features Brian Jones on slide guitar.

Beatles has Ringo on vocals with George doing his Carl Perkins thing on guitar.

I think the Beatles version gets the nod due to their recording being eons better.

Lennon/McCartney gave that song to the Stones to record first as a "hit" single. Supposedly Jagger and Richards hung around in studio and L/M finished writing it.

And better to link to youtube than Spotify...easier for all to see/hear it.

What I find hilarious are John Lennon's comments on the song:

quote:

Indicating what he thought about the song, Lennon has stated that the song “was a kind of lick Paul had…it was a throwaway. The only two versions of the song were Ringo and The Rolling Stones. That shows how much importance we put on it. We weren’t going to give them anything great, right?”
