The drugs started way before that. Arguably, they were more prevalent prior to '63.

I'm starting to think Help! is the best of all the albums. It sort of sneaks up on you.

from 16 July 1964 (release of “Hard Days Night/Things We Said Today” single) through 5 August 1966 (release of Revolver) was the most remarkably creative and influential period in popular music history IMHO

Yep, also consider what the Stones were putting out during that period.

By all bands in that period or just The Beatles?

If you add less than one more year, then you also pick up Sgt. Pepper's (and and several great singles).

But I agree with you, it's insane. People that watched Sullivan on 2-9-64 were hearing Yesterday and Ticket to Ride by mid-1965 and Tomorrow Never Knows and Eleanor Rigby by August 1966.

The scale and quantity is so staggering that I simply can't really include it in the corpus of "popular music". That's too much of a downgrade. It was world-changing, revolutionary art in nearly every respect and the world is still digesting the reverberations.

It was indeed a wonderful time to be alive. I am fortunate.
