YW.
It strikes me on first listen as a Sunday morning hangover/regret song.
It was exactly like that.
At the time, it was a good way to try and write.
For me, at the time, it was all about the Nashville game. I kept playing though. I still do.
Sooner or later, I think I'll win. Big.
The best guitar player I know, I've been working on him for 15 years. We have our 1st session together at 10 am tomorrow.( by the way, I will be going in there with my yellow telecaster with the Fretshack p90s)
It's a long game.
Nowadays, I try to write more upbeat, hopeful stuff, where folks win and maybe inspire something. I still have a crapload of beer drinkin songs though. I can still whoop those out.

It’s a real good one. Stand alone or as the end piece to some preceding raucous songs. I’ve always liked that composition style despite the digital age - its still cool to be able to play an album telling a story.

That’s beautiful. It’s nice how the composition of the notes is kinda unpredictable without trying too hard.

yep, I think that's the main reason he invited Marty Muse, Robert Earl's old steel player, to be in the band. He had been playing that song on his Facebook shows during the pandemic but it was just solo.

That's fantastic. That's exactly the kind of cover I wouldn't mind doing. I would probably try it a Yoakemish way.

More than that to me, it's about watching your kid be successful and even a motivation for yourself, Patting yourself on the back, because that's exactly what you wanted.
There's another version with the same title, that I haven't recorded yet in a studio. It's got to be wide open high octane Rockabilly, and it's hard to get it right if you don't have the right musicians. Here's the first verse:
She's from Ensenada Mexico- she's a butterscotch blonde
She's got a few scars on her- because she's a lot of fun
When you first left me- I thought it would be disaster
Then Through a pawn shop window- I saw my sexy Telecaster
In the rest of the song, the dude gets the band back together and hilarity ensues.

Otis has one of the best music channels on YouTube. The stories he gets are amazing. I particularly like the ones with Kenny Vaughan and the guy from the Georgia Satellites.
The ones about John Prine are awesome as well.

There some more vids of my brother on his channel. One he talks about how Gun & Juice came about and how it was labeled as a Phish song on Napster and how Snoop Dogg actually heard the Gourds version. I knew the basic story but there is some other info I didn't know .

He does some fun music. Really like him.
Somebody posted one of his shows on The OT the other day from Austin City Limits, he was playing a ukelele and singing a song called "The Poor People's Store" it was genius.
When he did that line " you can smell like you just got out of jail" I really spit out my coffee.
