Preamp break-in continues. 15 hours on the tubes and things are settling in nicely. Up next.

Ending the night with some early Opeth. Curious if bad recordings will sound worse or better.

I must confess that my listening was cut short last night when the wife got home.

This was a rsd 2022 release and I’m really digging it now that I’m picking up where I left off. Great pressing, great music. Definitely worth a stream at least.

Sadly, a year after this performance Bill Evans would be gone and buried in Baton Rouge.

USPS just dropped off some Kimber Kable interconnects that had been lost in the mail for a week! My system is now fully balanced from source to preamp to amps. Tubes at 21 hours and feeling a little more laid back today. First up.

Figured I’d post a pic of my cave now that it’s mostly together. The punk and blue note books really tell the story of how I actually play and how I wish I played.

Love the set up. Very nice

Can someone explain the difference in streamers to me? I built a modest system in the past year, mainly to get back into vinyl, but added a Wiim Mini for less ,than $100.
What does a Bluesound Node or other high end streamer get me that this cool little WiiM doesn’t?

System:
Emotiva BASX A2 amp
Emotiva BASX PT1 preamp/tuner
Fluance RT85
KEF Q350 (demoed some R3’s but didn’t seem worth the price to upgrade)
WIIM mini streamer

I am about to build a system this coming year. How are you liking the Emotiva equipment?

I am doing a lot of research now and since, their ads are popping up everyone on my feeds.

I dont have any experience with their equipment

Got a copy of this, but I haven’t opened it yet. How does it sound?

I’m enjoying it, although I’ve nothing to compare it to honestly. A lot of reviewers say it’s very good for the price.

Probably less noise and more app support. Does the WiiM have a digital out or does it force you to use the onboard DAC? I’d assume the DAC in your Emotiva is better. Doesn’t appear expensive so worth a shot IMO. If you don’t like it then you’re not out too much money.

Oh I’ve actually got one and it’s good for me just curious about higher end.

Has an optical and aux out.

“supports up to 192kHz, 24-bit audio output that's the same as an artist's recording in the studio. The integrated TI stereo DAC provides the high quality analog audio output with the 106-dB SNR, dynamic range and -92dB THD+N performance. provides high.”

They just came out with the WiiM Pro, which offers more “stuff”, but still very affordable.
