So, I picked up a copy of the Blind Melon - Soup reissue that was done by Analog Spark and I'm giving it the first spin. Holy crap it sounds fantastic. I highly recommend a copy to any Melonheads. I also grabbed a copy of Nico, but didn't get the copy of self-titled they had. I will be going back for that.

Kevin gray master, and pressed at RTI I believe. Analog Spark puts out a really nice product. I think I have a Sam cooke & Paul Desmond album from them.

another, especially if you have pretty efficient speakers - the Quad Vena. Not high powered, but quality and versatility is superb
Papi... I’m assuming this means you have a Vena and any of you other Vena owners. Have you guys have any issues with Tidal and Spotify stopping about halfway through a song when hooked up directly to the Vena via cable?
I run them through my phone and it doesn’t stop when hooked up via Bluetooth, but if connected directly it will stop. If I try to restart it I have to unplug and start over.... then repeat.
It may be my old arse 6s and I guess I should probably install them on my iPad to see... I know I’ve read in the thread somewhere somebody had issues with Tidal at one point.

Just an FYI...
I was running TIDAL on my MacMini a couple years ago and couldn’t get many of the functions to work. I was running Snow Leopard OS—older OS, but it worked with all the other dedicated audio players (Amarra for example). It is used strictly for playing music.
I finally upgraded the OS to Yosemite (the latest that mine can run) and TIDAL began working properly—however the trade off was that the entire computer is now running at a snails pace due to the OS being so damn taxing.

I have not experienced any of these issues, but I have never used a source that was connected via cable, only BT.

I just got the Music Direct fall clearance catalog—there are a good many headphones that are 40-60% off retail...check it out.
Audioquest Nighthawk headphones...was $700–now $299—I understand these are pretty good phones...not a bad deal.

Hey Marco,
Time for some more audio recs. So, I'm thinking about putting together a mini system in my office at home that will power small bookshelf speakers. I'm wondering if there is an integrated amp out there that might tackle the following specifications, if not i'm ok with separates:
- under 2k
- 2 ch system
- usb dac so i can use it with an imac desktop
- acts as a local media streamer with onboard tidal, spotify, tunien, etc apps (as opposed to streaming via bluetooth)
- can operate above apps from my phone (bonus if i can use the phone to turn integrated amp on off)
- small form factor is a plus, but not a deal breaker
I think that's it. I just wasn't sure if you knew of an all in one product that could accomplish all this for the above price off the top of your head. no need to spend your time doing research, and if there isn't an all in one solution that you know of, then maybe some ideas for cobbling together separates to meet specs? I'm also happy to buy used through audiogon for better deals on amps or what not to hit my price.

Rotel A14 integrated...$1299
Rogue Audio Sphinx V2 integrated hybrid tube/class D...$1295—you will need to add an external DAC to this one, but can do so easily under your budget.

Marco...
Wanted to tell you, those wow interconnects ended up going for a little over $200, which I think is close to new for 1m.
Been so damn busy I haven’t got too deep into things in a while. Need to start buying some new vinyl and start upgrading a few things... like the interconnects for starters

There is a guy on AGon who is always selling AcousticZen cables—he is in Arizona. He is a dealer and discounts new AZ cables. Just punch in Acoustic Zen in the search bar and look for a guy selling in AZ. I Believe he has his phone number posted. Give him a call. You may be able to get a new pair for just over $200.
There is also a very good chance he may have a demo pair is well. Talk to him.

Or you could do a...
Schiit Vidar amplifier...$699
Schiit Bifrost DAC...$399
Schiit Saga preamp...$349
...for a system total of $1447
You can plug your computer right into the DAC, run hi-res using TIDAL music from the computer...
...and, if you want to use iPhone, iPad, or other WiFi devices, add a Bluesound music streamer (MusicDirect is blowing them out right now for $199)!!
This gives you a pretty powerful (100 wpc into 8ohms//200 wpc into 4ohms) amp...a 5-analog input/2-analog output tube preamp, a 24/192 DAC with 4 digital inputs, and a music streamer with TIDAL, Spotify, internet radio, and a few others built in, all for $1646
Not a bad rig...and it doesn’t take up much space!

That seems just about perfect. Thanks for the heads up! Also like that rotel too, but the schitt looks legit.

What speakers?
hey sorry, just saw your question. not sure yet. i have a pair of older cambridge audio bookshelf speakers gathering dust somewhere that i will likely use until i decide on a permanent set. i don't know much about active speakers tbh, but those dynaudio's look nice. i think my friend has a pair of genelec monitors he uses with his computer that he really likes. i think their primary function though is for music playback for the tunes he makes.
