What is the stance. I am not country music guy. I like a few things from some of the "newer" people but really only like a few country singers in general.

Been listening to some of Combs acoustic stuff. I have to say, I like it.

My opinion is: If you like it, listen to it.

He was good until every song started sounded like the same chords/rhythms with just different lyrics over them.

If you like self-hating woke troubadours trying to ensure self-preservation, then you like him. If not, you don't.

Yea, I had saw that and wondered what people thought. Me personally, I see it more of self/career preservation than being woke. They are different.

He was getting hammered about it and it was either that or fight off the mob for his career. He may have taken the lesser of two evils. I dont think it hurt his career at all.

I totally understand people wanting to preserve their heritage. Hell I grew up in an incredibly racist family and I know I have it in me. I do what I can to keep in in there but I cant go through the rest of my life hating and "cancelling" everybody and everything out there that doesnt think or believe the same way I do

If I do that, I wont be able to do anything and probably wont have any people to associate with. Life is too short for that

They are. If any of my newer songs ever become popular, people's heads are going to explode. What the hell chords are them?!!

I listened to some of his songs but his voice just doesn't stand out.

I believe the reason he was able to rise so quickly is because traditional country music fans were tired of hearing pop and bro country. So Combs was seen as fresh air and is more relatable to the general population.

But I just don't care for his voice or his music.

You think the woke mob are the ones buying his music anyway? It’s time for people to ignore these loons or tell the where to go.

He should’ve just said it was a long time ago and he had no racist intentions. If it upsets some they’ll just have to deal with it.

His shite was good when he started. Problem is, how new stuff sounds exactly the same. Gets old.

I totally agree with you and I would probably go down in flames before I gave in. Im just saying I somewhat understand his stance. He relies on the radio to play his music. They are fast to shut down artist these days if the mob comes after them. Im just saying I would not take a big chance at losing a career that I worked toward all my life over a statement.

I think there was a way to explain it without a actual apology but he probably did what he thought was right. I dont see him as being a "woke" person because of it.

I mean, that is what I’m doing. It’s what I always do.

Regardless. Nothing hilarious about it. I was just prepping the thread for the political boys to chime in.
