Got a ticket for Sunday night in Madison. Majestic Theatre, which looks like a really cool venue. Been up here a little southeast of Madison for two months and been hoping for a good show there. Finally getting one I can break away to see. I have some pretty high expectations for the venue and the Madison crowd. Hoping they live up. Seen The Sword twice but not since November of ‘15. Can’t wait. Not as much a fan of their last two albums as the older stuff but I don’t hate them as much as some people seem to either. They killed it live on the High Country tour show in Jax and I figure they will again.

And speaking of Madison, EHG was there at a different venue three nights ago but been too slammed with work to break away on a weeknight and get up there for a show. I’m sure it was good.

I saw their show at The Varsity a few months back and they were awesome. I don’t enjoy their new stuff as much as their old stuff, but still a fantastic show.

Oh hell I’d forgotten they had played the Varsity. I guess that answers my initial question then. Ha.

Good deal. Really looking forward to it.

Yes, saw them twice on the last tour: once at the Varsity and once at Gas Monkey.

They still kick arse and the new stuff is much better live.

my thoughts on why they are doing softer rock than their metal roots, is because i saw them live at One Eyed Jacks and unfortunately the singer just couldn't hang. So im thinking they are playing songs he can sing easier. may be incorrect but its a thought.

My guess is that they don't want to pigeonholed into the stoner rock genre. They are trying to be just a rock band like Clutch. They are obviously not close to Clutch's level though.

Simply because they did the same album 4 times in the beginning.

High Country is just insanely good. Great songwriting and production.

Yeah I like it too. I look at it as follows... If High Country were their first album, people would be saying: Holy shite!! What a great new band. Instead, it was a departure from their successful formula and the fantastic music they had already made so their hardcore fans were disappointed.
