Saba sounds like Chance if he hadn't sold out and adopted the flow of Kendrick. Really good. Thanks for the rec!

The album also has a really good story which you can pick out if you listen close. It’s basicallh a tribute to his cousin (or uncle?) who he was really close to and got stabbed and died over some stupid shite. The song Prom/King explicitly tells the story.

And yeah, Saba is from the same crew as Chance, Towkio, Noname, Malcom London, Mick Jenkins, etc... that whole Chicago scene is excellent.

I’m lucky enough to actually know Malcolm London IRL, so I keep up with that scene pretty close. Check out the documentary Louder than a Bomb if you’re into hip hop and spoken word. Really great flick about Chciago’s After school spoken word program where a lot of these artists came up.

I've become a big fan of the Chicago scene. Saba is great. Bucket List Project and Care For Me are two really strong albums.

I really dig Mick Jenkins too. I play his last 2 EPs all the time.
