anyone ever done any diy recording

My bands about to start recording, and will be doing it ourselves.....we'll be using a macbook pro with a presonus interface...i'm not too worried about the actually recording, it's the mixing that has me a little nervous

I have a little history with it using Presonus. Just remember to minimize clipping at the interface and every step along the way. Which Presonus device will you be using? The Firepod and FP10 have gain nobs on each channel. Now, I understand some clipping for artistic value, but you don't want to sound like Lars Ulrich beating on a set of bean cans.

Have fun. It's time consuming. Once my first kid was born, I sold all my recording equipment.
