I've never done it, and going to use a great little parlor guitar on something.
Normally using a dreadnought or Jumbo, I aim the mic down the neck towards the sound hole. Not sure this will work as well on the smaller, different shaped guitar.

Just trying to avoid spending too much time having to experiment, any help greatly appreciated.

How a Nashville pro mics acoustics in the studio

And if it's good enough to record it for prosperity, it's okay to spend a little extra time experimenting a little with capturing it in its best presentation form. Sometimes the mic moved one inch in any direction is the difference between "good enough" and "good." You won't know until you track a quick 20-second dummy to see.

Same goes for EQ, compression and 'verb on the back end. You'll likely want those tools on an acoustic track, but I recommend you go in with a subtle mentality ... I can't hear them "on" the track but I hear their absence clearly, borderline horridly, if the grease is toggled off.

Thanx man! That video is very helpful. I think that last method is what I am going to try first.

Of course I don't have mics nearly that good, but that's all the more reason to get them aimed right.

It's really just demo for a song, but I like to make it sound as good as possible.

Using a Simon and Patrick Woodland Pro Parlor guitar, and that thing is awesome. Just would like to do it justice if I am able. I wish I was better at recording, but my time at home is very limited.
