Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and STP unplugged will always be 3 of the best unplugged shows.

AIC unplugged = AWESOME!

I'd rank them 1st, STP 2nd, and Nirvana distant 3rd.

We need to have a beer one night. I didn't even read your response until I posted mine. We both love The Cult and can talk about their pre-Rick Rubin stuff. That calls for a brewski.

Sounds good to me.

Both Cobain and Staley were on top of there game vocally.

Layne actually had a few frickups during the session, but the started over and didn't include them on the album. That said, the AIC Unplugged album was better. Although, the Meat Puppets songs were nice from Nirvana.

You should throw Korn in the mix too

The only acoustic sets I've heard from Korn sounded downright horrid. Jonathan Davis' voice is terrible.

I say AIC but I am biased since I like them more. Although Nirvana's unplugged album is great.

I'll go back and qualify my "Nirvana in a landslide" post since this thread is still rolling.

Personally I like both of these bands better unplugged as opposed to plugged.

When you take the Bowie/Vaselines/MeatPuppets covers that Nirvana throws in with their own tunes I like the group of songs Nirvana plays a lot better than the AIC set of exclusively their songs.

Both unplugged performances are really great though.

Hmmm....they're heavy at times, but have you truly listened to "Sap", "Jar of Flies", and "Unplugged"? You might find what you're looking for there. The first two are EP's. NO heavy metal. Lots of blues-folk influence and Jerry Cantrell obviously has 90 percent control of both. Some of it is damn near country. You might dig that sound. It's totally different from their albums like Facelift, Dirt, and Tripod album.

I never thought of them as heavy metal, maybe grunge metal. I think I guess a diffeernt view on what heavy metal is.

Ive heard it before, just not a fan... I was always more a fan of the more punk influenced bands out of Seattle, not the metal ones...
