LAs art rock scene. Perry's songwriting and amazing voice and Navarro's wall of guitar made it a breathtaking album. After Ritual, PF really fell off the deep end lyrically. but up until then he was the troof

Ritual
maybe better?

I find them amazing, but not consistent.

As for LA and art, I personally find these two as contradictory, possibly diametrically opposed.

LA and art came the closest with The Doors.

Ritual was definitely had much heavier production. Way more layered sound with a several really epic songs on it. Nothings shocking would make the list first just because it came out first

And the LA "art rock" is just how I remember them labeled back the. Yet I don't know who else would share that genre with them. Oingo Boingo?

Appetite for Destruction and Pump turned me into a rock fan for life. Before that, I just listened to whatever was on the radio.

For me, probably The Cure's Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me.

I was heavily into nothing but Heavy Metal all thru the 80's minus the MTV new wave one hit wonder stuff.
This album brought me into a whole other world.
