While I've heard various discussions and podcasts about the future of Artificial Intelligence, I don't recall music being discussed. It seems logical that it would be possible in the near future (5-50 years) for AI to 'create' music.

For example, upload Zeppelin's 1st five albums and then the AI program creates a new song that has Plant's exact voice, Page's guitar style, Bonham's drums, and the production 'sound' of that era.

You could upload any combination of songs/artists to produce a new song. I realize this would take some creativity from the AI program but shouldn't this be possible?

Yes, that eventually will be possible. I don't think AI is there yet though.

It's an interesting concept.

I will say, the one thing about great bands I don't think AI will ever touch is their ability to create and evolve. You could plug the Beatles first few albums in and you won't get Revolver, Sgt. Pepper or the White Album.

AI is still subject to logical programming elements. Theroretically you could program the wave forms to anticipate “next best” or “next most common” notes / patterns but it would likely be a mess without some contextual feedback to the AI platform. It’s an interesting idea. I work on AI platforms everyday, if you have an electronic music guru would be an interesting project.
