Who is Acid Bath's fanbase today? Are non-metal fans listening to them? Is this like a Deftones situation where they've gotten massively popular with the younger audience on tiktok? I've seen Dax several times with Deadboy and his solo shows and I don't think there were more than 100 people in each of those shows. Goatwhore draws maybe 300 or so people for their shows.

I was told at one point they were trying to get them to reunite at Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette.. which held about 7,500 for concerts at the time

Sammy said he was offered 60-80k to reunite Acid Bath for one show … 8 years ago

Acid Bath is playing Sonic Temple Festival in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, May 9. They just put out their lineup.

Assume they’ll probably be at the other Danny Wimmer festivals. Aftershock, Louder than Life, Welcome to Rockville

I imagine the first LA show will be lit... assuming they do any LA shows.

realistically in louisiana, what would the right venue be for Acid Bath?

Gonzales Civic Center

But for real, one of the event halls at Lamar Dixon.

Wait, did Tin Roof go out of business? If so, a makeshift Papa Joes.

We just found this out today as we were all set for Vegas & flight was booked. This would be a great opportunity for the band to start planning a New Orleans show now that same weekend. Make it happen guys.

Announcing you're pulling the plug on a late Friday afternoon, the day after Thanksgiving. Keeping it classy!

Guy from the band Tomahawk leaked it first
quote:

TOMAHAWK's Trevor Dunn broke the news of Sick New World's cancelation in an interview with The Vinyl Guide. He reportedly said of the event: "I'm probably not supposed to talk about this, but it's not happening. It'll come out in the wash soon, but basically, the festival [Sick New World] is not happening. We had a whole tour, we had a two-week thing built around that, which we can't do now because financially it doesn't make any sense, so yeah, that's not happening.”

lol here:
quote:

Sources have told Hits Daily Double that the "enormous guarantees" offered to the artists — METALLICA and LINKIN PARK were said to be getting $5 million each — meant that the event would need to sell out or come close at on-sale in order to turn a profit. Prior to the cancelation, a little more than one-third of Sick New World's 60,000 available tickets were sold, according to Hits Daily Double.

Only 60% short of goal

Why are all those Vegas music festivals so shady? There's that Friends & Lovers Festival that is devoted to 90s and 00s R&B/Rap - they announced Mary J. Blige as a headliner and she was like "Uhhhh, that's news to me and my manager"

These festivals need to start scaling back. They could do a one day festival with either Metallica or Linkin Park and cut out 75% of the lower card acts and it would be much more enjoyable for the fans and more likely to make a profit.

new festival appearances announced

quote:

But don't worry! Acid Bath is now up to four reunion shows for 2025, all of which so far are festival dates. They are:

5/8-11 Columbus, OH Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival
5/15-18 Daytona Beach, FL Welcome To Rockville
7/18-20 Mansfield, OH Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival
9/18-21 Louisville, KY Louder Than Life

plus comments from Sammy LINK

quote:

"What happened was 'Sick New World' contacted, my… well, Goatwhore booking agent, Dan Rozenblum, and was like, 'So what would it take to make this happen?' And we had recently had a passing of a very good friend of ours that was playing keyboards for us on the Pagan Terrorism Tactics tour.

"His name was Tommy Viator — better known as Tomas. And I think that had a big role to play in the situation, to where, you know, a lot of us aren't going to be around forever, right?

"So… I had spoken to Dax about this, when we were talking about getting it back together, and I was like, you know, we need to do this before…. I didn't put it that way, but I just kind of hinted. And he was like, 'maybe it's time.' And that's how this whole thing kind of came into play."

You think that cutting out 75% of the lower card acts would do much to the budget? I assume the big acts take up the vast majority of the budget and the small acts get paid very little - they are there more for the promotion. Am I wrong?
