John Fogerty was definitely tuned this way for some of his best stuff.

You really couldn't give it any designation like that.
Each string would be tuned down 2 whole steps from standard tuning. So playing an A chord would really be an F chord, B would become a G, C would be Ab, D would become Bb and so on.
Same for every note.
I'm about to try it on one of my Tellies, but I think I'm gonna get string rattle. They all have close action.

Edit: Works better than I thought it would. Sounds kind of bad arse TBH especially if I mute the strings slightly with my right hand.
I don't have a distortion pedal, but I bet that would be some crack of doom shite.
I'm gonna play with this for a while. I've never tuned down this low. I usually play tuned down 1/2 step and a whole step for some things.
This aint bad though.

P.S. You can tune to an open C, the top string just won't be a root note. From the top you tune E-G-C-G-C-E
You could tune it C-G-E-G-C-E, but I've never done it that way. I don't know why.
I really do know why. I never wanted to change string tension that much, so I used the E-G-C-G-C-E
I meant tune everything down 2 steps - not tune to an open C chord.
