Killing some pre-game time listening to this amazing group of young and older musicians (students and teachers) from Spain who have brought back American swing jazz in Europe. NOLA influence in a lot of their music.

They have 400+ videos on YouTube (Google: Joan Chamorro jazz). They are all from a public performing arts school. Most of them have played together since the age of 7 or 8. About 75 kids in the larger orchestra.

You're welcome. Glad others appreciate them. A lot of their YouTube fans have been campaigning to bring them to New Orleans.

I grew up listening to big band/swing music. Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, the Dorsey Brothers, Ray Noble, Ozzie Nelson, etc. Not jazz exactly, but the roots of swing music is jazz. So I did enjoy this.

They bring in pro-musician visiting teachers. New Orleans jazz great Jesse Davis has taught there often.

Here is Jesse and a student playing a smooth-jazz saxophone duet about as well as one can possibly be played.

Me too, Fonz.

Here's a Benny Goodman number performed by the Chomorro big band of youngsters & teachers. So great to see this wonderful music being revived. Interested to hear what you think of it.
