I think phish and the grateful dead made good studio albums. They are just 15x better live

i've never bothered listening to any recorded phish but i do enjoy the grateful dead's studio albums greatly

Really? Because when I saw them the vocals were really really bad

Was it at a festival?

I've seen them twice, both at 930 club, a relatively small indoor venue with a top notch sound system, and it was just crazy awesome. I was eargasm'ing all over the place. Maybe his vocals don't do well outdoors. I could see that being the case.

You see it's shite like this that proves to everyone that you have shite taste in music. If you'd just keep this nonsense to yourself you just may be able to hide your shite faste in music but no you have to advertise it.

Yeah, exactly. If you can't articulate what it is that people who don't get phish aren't getting, then congratulations because you just successfully stated nothing.
See that's kind of the thing

You can't articulate it

It's something about that particular brand of live music, and crowd/band interaction, and vibe at concerts, and those little moments in shows that is beyond really putting into words. Lot's of live shows are good times, but there are certain bands that make their live shows a particular experience. And if you weren't really familiar with their stuff and went to a show, you probably wouldn't "get it", but it's there

I know that sounds silly and hippy dippy and shite, and maybe it is, but it's true

I love live music, but I don't believe it's all about the live show.

Too many for me to decide. But it's better than Ants Marching or whatever you think is Dave's best song.

I don't think I need any better to adequately state that you have shite taste in music. But hey to each their own who am I to keep you from being ignorant

Dave Matthews is way better than the dead. Way way way better. The only way you could argue that the dead were better is if you completely disregarded the songs that are on the albums and judged the merits of a band exclusively on live performances.

But what is unique about the music Phish is making that their music would be awesome live and yet not good in the studio?

Vacuum cleaners just don't sound right in the studio you need to hear it live.

He just told you. They build their live show around the vibe of the crowd and the interaction between the band ad the audience. They have their finger on the pulse of the crowd and they mold their playing around that.

In case you haven't noticed there typically isn't a crowd inside the studio

Everybody on this board has shitty taste in music to everybody else. It's a weak go-to response that people say when they have nothing to say.

Well there really isn't anything else to say when you state that Dave Matthews is better than one of the most respected bands of all time.
