We must have gone to very very very different high schools in the 90's. And had very very different radio stations and very very different versions of MTV.

But what I remember was kids in school pretty much listen to radio music but you had a small minority that dug a little deeper and listened to good stuff and watched 120 minutes. That’s all I’m saying.
I’m not talking about the obvious music of the 90’s like Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc

Those bands were all over the radio, sure early in the 90's you only got them on 120 minutes but by 94 they were on during the mainstream hours of MTV.
