Sweet Child of Mine would be #1 if it weren't as recent as it is (relatively speaking)

Seems like it comes on once an hour at every rock station ever regardless of the type of rock station

American Band - Grand Funk
Evidently, if you've ever listened to Eagle 98.1, it's the only song Grand Funk ever recorded.

Why not just listen to any so called 'Classic Rock' station...you will know after a couple of days exactly what the next song will be...for example, 93.7 in Houston, you will hear (one after another) Journey, Boston, ZZ Top, Eagles, Steve Miller, etc. Same damn songs over and over again...
It's amazing, all the great rock music that came out of the 60's & 70's, and yet most is ignored for the same commercial fluff day after day...disgraceful..I wish I had the funds to start my own station...

Where's "Freebird" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"?

My understanding is most radio is "programmed" now. It's like your ipod on shuffle, even if you skip a song, the good ones never come up on their own. The computer algorithm will bring up the same songs. 98.1 is the worst. How can you play a song from an artist with a catalogue like Tom Petty and play the same song every few days. It should be months before the same song comes up in the rotation. It should be that way for all rock artists from the late 60's-to the mid-90's. You shouldn't hear the same song for months, possibly years.

Speaking of that, here's what I hate about Sirius.
A newish group hits the scene with a great song. Some time later, they release newer stuff. You'll never hear the earlier stuff again. Examples: Maps - Yeah Yeah Yeahs, New Slang - The Shins.

Creed- Higher isn't really played anymore, but when it came out it was played once every 3 songs. I think how much it was played at the late 90's/early 2000's still qualifies it as one of the top 25 most overplayed songs.
I think No Scrubs by TLC is another one similar to Creed - Higher, but on a lesser level.
In a somewhat related note, I believe that The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony is played on more stations than any other song on sirius/xm. It is played on the 90's, alt nation, lithium, pop stations, and probably others. I hear that song on different stations of xm a couple times a week.

the last time i was really listening to the radio was probably 5-6 years ago. i could literally set my watch by what the local classic rock station was playing. there was literally no deviance from the playlist monday - friday after their morning show went off the air.
