They aren’t for everyone, but Radiohead should be at the top of that list.

...and still no T-Rex/Marc Bolan, Jethro Tull, Doobie Brothers or Gram Parsons.

Exactly. Pat Benatar has recorded more albums, sold at least as many records and has more number 1 hits....still not in the HOF.

Trying to understand why Boston, Foreigner, Peter Frampton and Carole King aren't in.
Wasn't this one of the biggest albums of the 70s?

Album of the Year 1976, 11 million copies sold worldwide.

While I'm a bit of a closet Kiss fan, I didn't think they were HOF-worthy...I mean, their career has been coasting on 3 years from back in the 70's, and 3 years out of 40+ ain't HOF-worthy. My point is, whatever this year's list is, once you let Kiss in to the HOF, then you might as well just let everyone in.

Link Wray. One lung Link - the godfather of punk music. The first to punch holes in his guitar amp speaker for distortion and snarl. His Danelectro Longhorn guitar is iconic. Dude is much more deserving than anyone on that list. IMHO.

Oasis are eligible from next year I think. Should be in. So should the Smiths.

i think kiss is awful. the 3-year peak you mention is garbage to me, to say nothing for the rest of their careers.

but they are an *iconic american rock band*, are they not? how is that not RNRHOF worthy?

and the fact that they didn't die of drug overdoses immediately after their 3-year creative peak, while unfortunate for humanity, has no bearing on anything. again: iconic? check. rock? check.

what else should they be looking for?

Alot of that "iconic" perception was/is hype, hype, and more hype (and a little bit of payola too, lol), and back in the day, no one questioned their boastful claims. Thanks to the internet, it's now easy to fact-check every word of garbage spewed out of Gene Simmons' mouth. So, if Kiss checks the boxes, why NOT Def Leppard then, or any number of overlooked bands? Hell, Kiss' most "iconic" album doesn't come anywhere within sniffing distance of DL's top albums, and unlike Kiss, THOSE songs still permeate the airwaves, apart from the occasional token spin of "Rock and Roll All Nite"...

Kiss are innovators in merchandising and whoring yourself out as much as possible. They have made more money off so little talent than just about anyone. They deserve a place in HoF for that.
