55 years ago tonight I was watching the Ed Sullivan show like I always did on Sunday nights. It felt like the world changed right before my eyes. It only took four lads from Liverpool to open our eyes and ears to a new musical revolution:
Yeah Yeah Yeah!
Yeah Yeah Yeah!

Definitely a Red Letter Day in music history.

It's amazing how many very successful musicians saw that show and were inspired to pick up instruments. My Dad said he watched and was blown away by Ringo. 6 months later he was learning how to play the drums.

I know many musicians who got into it because of 2/9/64. I'm one myself since I totally flailed at what I really wanted to be after watching Ed Sullivan that night:
A TV variety show host so I could meet all the cool bands!

I had just turned 8 and my sister was 6. I'd heard the Beatles on the radio (AM), and we found out they were playing on Sullivan by the TV Guide. Visiting at the time were my aunt and uncle from Gueydan and we all sat in front of the TV to watch this, along with my parents. It's funny how something like that sticks to you all these years later. I can remember my dad and uncle remarking on the length of their hair. They both had flat-tops.
