Okay, and Slicing Up Eyeballs is a hipster gatekeeping publication. Does that make you feel better?
No, but you can have a cookie.

Well, well, well. Look who's at #4....

Just a little bit of vindication for an earlier post..

(and all the same caveats already talked about apply. Any list is subjective...)

ou would think the Cure was the best band of the 1980's. I'm not sure many music critics would agree (Stigers would).

I would and do agree The Cure is the best band out of the 80’s

My opinion is that the OP posted a shitty list of mediocre, unpolished music masquerading as high art.

The same way most of the bands are on the list in this thread: not very good songwriting. It's really the only metric that matters in the end. Even the good Pixies songs aren't actually good enough to complete themselves (e.g. Where Is My Mind). In the hands of someone else, might've been great.

3. Dire Straits – Brothers in Arms
4, Tears for Fears – Songs from the Big Chair

Wow

With the exception of Songs From the Big Chair(Fantastic) and Fogarty, that's basically a worst of list.
