I put in 10. That will have to do for you. I'm not a professional music critic and I don't have time to compile 100 albums. Sorry. I'll add this though. I may or may not LIKE the albums that I posted in the top 10, but they are subjectively BETTER than the list you posted.
And nice troll job posting a list from 12 years ago to get people riled up.

Spoken like a true snob. At least you're consistent.

I listened to and still listen to a lot of the music on that list. But there's a reason that most of the albums listed on it moved less than 200k units.

Which brings up a point I almost made above but didn't. I'm not the same person I was 40 years ago, and don't listen to the same music either. Just as my tasted in food, clothing, my hobbies and any number of things in life has changed, so has my taste in music. And thank goodness. I would have been a real tragedy to been stuck listening to the same artists and same songs and never have been introduced to new things along the way. In the same breath, I'm glad I've rediscovered music that I used to listen to and put on the shelf for a while. With time and experience, songs hit you differently. That’s the beauty of music. It grows with you and changes with you.
If you let it.

The only thing I care about with music is does it sound good coming out of the speakers.
The reason these bands were small, is because - by and large - the songwriting sucked. The idea that mainstream or well-selling acts are inherently likely to be lower in quality is dumb - or, at the very least, outdated. The best band of all time happens to also be the most popular band of all time.

If you scroll through the rest of that websites best of the 1980's polls (and these were polls), it's dominated by, the Cure, the Smiths, U2, REM and a few others. Basically it was a popularity contest based on the opinions of the very readership of that site. And that's fine. One just has to understand the context for it. But taking it on face value, you would think the Cure was the best band of the 1980's. I'm not sure many music critics would agree (Stigers would). One MIGHT be able to make that argument for U2, but I think that really didn't happen for them until the 1990s. And even then they would be up against some stiff competition... Were the bands on these lists edgy? Yes. Did they break new ground? Yes. However, for most people that lived thru that decade, these particular "best of" lists along with what it implies, is a bit of a stretch.
