Multiple reports say WWE has agreed in principle to an agreement that will bring WWE SmackDown Live to Fox starting in October 2019. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox will pay $1 billion for five years.
As David Bixenspan wrote last week, WWE is cashing in on TV channels’ thirst for live sports TV. While WWE isn’t exactly sports—in case you weren’t aware, wrestling is scripted—its fans enjoy watching programs live. That means it’s relatively DVR-proof.

Fox is quickly becoming 'Murica's network.

200 million a year isn't bad for a show that was playing on the old UPN just 15 years ago.

They were also on the SyFy network. They had an episode of ECW where The Sandman fought a zombie or mummy or some stupid thing.

Its new content 52 weeks a year with a built in audience. And that is a built in audience. As far as pro wrestling has fallen in popularity those fans are going to show up no matter what.

WWE murdered new tv deals so hard, they couldn’t lose money if they tried right now. Meltzer said one episode of RAW will make them more money than a PPV event does now. That’s insane.
I feel like a dumbass for not buying stock when I saw UFCs deal. I knew that WWE would eclipse that deal by a good bit. I can’t believe the figures coming out now though. Beyond my wildest imagination.
The product sucks minus NXT though. Vince really does need to die for it to move into the modern era and be competitive content wise, NXT: Takeovers are as good as anything anyone in the world is putting out including NJPW. That’s morbid, but it’s the only way he’ll ever move on from micro managing everything. Seeing him in those WWE 24 docs is cringey. Beyond creepy and out of touch.

The WWEN brings in about $15 million a month. Its safe to say people mostly get the network for the ppvs so you could essentially say each ppv brings in $15 million. Under this new deal each Smackdown would bring in about $3.84 million. The current deal with USA pays them a little more but USA gets all the advertising money so I doubt WWE is making anything off commercials with Fox.
I wonder if Vince will step back a little from WWE when XFL starts. I was also wondering if he's been talking to Fox about putting XFL on FS1. Fox has said that will heavily advertise Smackdown, including having wrestlers appear on NFL pregame shows and things like that.

Meltzer was saying RAW would be worth more than a PPV, not Smackdown. I might have worded that weird.
