Exactly. The hyperbole on this board for the MCU is amusing.

It's less hyperbole and more DC chose poorly in it's vision.

WB made some fantastic movies in the past with supers but somewhere around Superman Returns forgot how.

And now they're back, finally, let's see if it's a trend.

Please be a trend.

Which was right between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. It's absolutely hyperbole.

No, it requires it being good. I don't have any faith in Zack Snyder (nothing personal to him due to his situation). Wonder Woman is proof when it's looking like it make beat BvS at the box office and already has in North America.

I liked Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice, but I think they'd have been a lot better if Snyder wasn't running them. However, he did get a producer and story credit on WW so maybe if he does good work in that type of role as opposed to directing.

Still, JL should at least do more than BvS unless it is universally hated. BvS did 873, WW has done over 700 and rising. Combine those with new hero hype and you'd think JL would at least hit 900 million. BvS should have done over a billion but here we are. JL should as well, but if it isn't well received it could fall short.

Not really,

After Returns we had rejected In Living Color scripts (Not to be confused with Blankman) and Very Ice.

Steel is in there somewhere

You had Catwoman in 03.

05 was Begins and letting Nolan do Nolan things. Which works for Year 1/Long Halloween.

06 was sniping Singer who did a middling job trying to recapture Reeves era and started the color washing. Actors did what they could with what they had.

08 and 12 for Nolan Batman.

11 was the attempt to make GL the launch pad for DCCU. Which was a mess that continued to cause WB to take the wrong lessons. Instead of awful script and bad direction, blamed color and lightness.

Then MoS, BvS, and Skwad. Which have been skewered to death, raised, MARTHA'ED!, Skewered some more and left in unmarked alleys.

And here we are 6 years later.

WW as a fun,likeable movie.

So Nolan was the exception not the rule after Tim Burton was sidelined.

So 5 solids before WW. In three decades.

But maybe they'll hit their stride. Because gaming company wars aside what's good for Marvel is good for DC and vice versa.

I want a better world for our grandkids, remember being disappointed visiting your grandparents and all that was on Sunday tv was awful westerns, none of the good ones?

We need a library of good superhero films so our grandkids don't experience the same thing.

If Marvel paved the way for anything, it was for a good, name brand superheroine to have the open field when it came time to have a female superhero vehicle. Marvel has gone supernova in every aspect of superhero movies, killing it in every fashion except when it came to the heroines. (Not necessarily the fault of the studio, as Stan was notorious for focusing on male characters at the sake of the women.) They started off strong with Black Widow and then turned her into damaged goods with the sterilization ninja school and having her as the damsel in a dungeon. Then after both Marvel and DC hemmed and hawed about why a Black Widow or Wonder Woman movie was a bad idea, DC got off their arse and pushed the movie through.

If there's any thanks to be given to Marvel, it's for putting the superheroines on the backburner as they focused on everything else.

well, Marvel doesn't have one anywhere near the level of Wonder Woman. Not culturally, at least.
Or for that matter, approaching even Supergirl, or Catwoman.

Everyone was waiting on WW to debut, and now we might go from there.

Forbes

Looks like Wonder Woman is likely to hit $800 Mill after it opens and has it's run in Japan.

And Flashpoint is shaping up to be a true Flashpoint story, with versions of other JL members. Gadot is signed up to be in it.

Now past $800 Million.

And passed Spider-Man for the #7 Superhero Movie Domestic spot. Still has a chance of getting up to #5 (which would make it the only solo superhero movie in the top five that isn't Batman).

Wonder Woman passed up Civil War and Iron Man 3 this weekend in domestic sales. It'll finish up as the #5 superhero movie.

It's the highest grossing non-sequel comic book film of all-time.

No offense, but you guys don't want this to be a "Marvel vs. DC" thing, but the constant reminders of how Wonder Woman is doing, doesn't really jive with that approach.

Just saying.

You're just keeping the conversation going in the same direction.

I'm just pointing to the hypocrisy, but continue with the pointless retort rather than actually addressing the comment. Has any film on this board been tracked so closely?

You replied to yourself three times to make sure people know how much something as made and what movies it has passed, specifically Marvel films. Is that not odd? Look, the conversation has generally died down, but I wouldn't start beating the "Everyone loves Marvel too much" drum next time it flares up when you're stoking the flame. That's all I'm saying.

I've bumped this thread because RollTide was starting a new thread for every milestone. I thought that it would be less obnoxious to update one thread than to start a new thread every time that the movie hit a new goal post.

You want the flames to die down? Don't reply. Let the thread fall down to the second page. You don't have to have the last word, just let it go.
