Watching Your Honor on Netflix, this son is so fricking stupid. The dad does everything he can to protect him yet he fricks it up every chance he gets.

Reminds me of Dana in Homeland, Walt Jr, Bridget Donovan, etc

I know kids are stupid but they almost ruin the show they’re so fricking stupid. I was dumb myself but my god I wasn’t this dumb.

Can they make a single show where the kid doesn’t piss you off with the stupidity of their actions?

That specific example is because it’s a privileged kid that has never dealt with any real world problems. The whole show relies on him making the wrong choice. Two kids from two different world’s make the show. I also don’t get the hate for Your Honor, it’s a quick watch and also entertaining.

Elisha Cuthbert's character in season 1 of 24 is the GOATest example of this.

It’s like “they” like to use kids as plot devices but most often in a negative sense, like well-meaning but befuddled protagonists.

There is some carry over from the 90s-today trope of the sitcom dad being an incompetent grown child.
