It's one of our favorite family channels. It's sort of our default channel when nothing else more interesting is on. We like: Love It Or List It also.

I like most of the shows. I usually watch it for a few hours straight on Saturday mornings when everyone is still in bed and I can just play on the computer, drink coffee, and have HGTV on in the background.

I can't wath House Hunters or Love it or List it anymore though. Knowing how fake they are just kills it for me.

I watch for ideas on our renovations. And for tips on something I haven't done before.

Love it or List it is good but annoying. And the reason they bitch about the extra money for renovations is that is coming out of their pocket now, I'm guessing, while the higher home price isn't much over the life of a mortgage.

What annoys me is David always shows them something like $50k over their budget but they don't let Hilary go over one cent. He should be forced to stick to the budget if she is.

Property Brothers is another good one. I like watching the renovation.

Cousins on call is another I watch. They aren't confined to one area like Kitchen Crashers or Bath Crashers and will actually tackle a few different areas.

house hunters/international, property virgins(we miss sandra rinomato big time), property brothers, and design star. I love to complain about how terrible all the people on the non design star shows are. my biggest pet peeve is americans whining about space/price when looking for a place in paris, rome, london. wtf are they expecting?

This

HGTV is a solid channel though

I like House Hunters and House Hunters Intl. I usually only watch the Intl version when they are somewhere like Paris, Rome, Dublin, Prague, etc. Once you've seen 2 or 3 beach houses in Mexico, some Caribbean island, etc, they all start looking the same to me. I'd rather watch someone look for a place in Tokyo, Tel Aviv, London, etc.Much more iinteresting to me

I agree. I pretty much only watch House Hunters Intl and only if it is some place really neat. I couldn't care less to see a couple looking at some McMansions in Phoenix or some ranch homes in Lubbock.

The wife and I used to watch selling New York a lot. I'm not sure if they still do those or not.

also I want to shoot every person who decides not to buy a property because of the paint color of rooms or fixtures.... cmon man

this drives me absolutely insane. I know it is no coincidence that they choose people for these shows with these very specific items, but it pisses me off.

"Ew too much green in here."
"The ceiling fans are atrocious"
"These fixtures are a deal breaker, sorry"

Meanwhile the place has no yard, cracks hinting at structural issues, and laminate flooring and they don't give a shite about that

Did anyone see the House Hunters episode where the guy was judging houses based on what kinds of feelings he was getting in them? There was one house he refused to go in at all because he was getting bad vibes. I bet the realtor was gettting annoyed with him (if it wasn't fake).

I'm sure all of the shows have elements that are fake. I never thought the hosts of House Crashers or Yard Crashers randomly found someone in Lowe's or Home Depot. I'm sure it was prearranged.

My last g/f got me watching HGTV when we were still together.

Best show they had was Holmes on Homes and House Hunters International. I never cared for the regular House Hunters or First Home shows. . . I think I watched the International for the exotic locales.

Used to hate Property Bros. but she loved it, and after a while it grew on me. I like the renovation aspects of those shows, but hated how the couples ALWAYS chose the wrong house and ALWAYS went over budget. shite got annoying!
