I don't know I haven't seen or read it...but I'm asking...and wondering (knowing Hollywood) is she over-the-top like Hanna?...I use Hanna because it was over the top "kick arse" little girl where you just roll your eyes for two hours...I guess you could use the girl in "Kick arse" as an example too.

Katniss isn't going to literally kick your arse, like Hanna or Hit Girl. Those two beat up many older men and women.

Katniss uses her skills with a bow and arrow, knowledge of surviving in the wilderness, and wits to put herself in situations that she can survive. She isn't going to physically beat you up like Hanna could.

Ok, that's what I wanted to know...the above scenarios are tiresome, ridiculous and annoying.

This sounds better if she can actually "bleed" like a regular person and not fight like a video game.

Off the top of my head, I don't recall her physically fighting anyone in the book.

I can think of one instance, although I won't post due to spoilers. She definitely wasn't kicking any arse like Hanna though

I didn't realize that was Jennifer Lawrence from Winter's Bone - if she's the lead then this will be good.

SPOILERS

Not only is she not an badass so to speak, her main strategy is non confrontational.

Eliminate food supplies of rivals to take advantage of the fact she can fend for herself unlike everyone else

That sounds far far more interesting than what I thought it would be from others talking about it (kick arse running man.)

A thinking "surviving the game"...now I have to see it.

You consider events happening after your great great grand kids have died of old age not too distant future?

yeah I would...it's not the distant future when you're taking in terms of a civilization.

What the frick is long term thinking/planning to you?

you're talking in terms of a single persons life, so 5 years could be long-term

Think of it in the other direction: would you consider the Revolutionary War the not too distant past?

yes

I would call not too distant future being like 50.

Is this movie (and the books) appropriate for a 12 yr old?

I took my 12 year old son and 8 of his friends last night and they loved it. The audience for the film is pre-teens, teens and college age kids. I thought is was just fine for kids that age.
