Nailed it. Jodie Comer's the best actress now. Watching Killing Eve, she does so many different accents. I was so impressed at her Midweastern accent in The Bikeriders. She's amazing.

I immediately thought of Jodie Comer when I saw the title of this thread. She is freaking incredible.

Probably because Mel Gibson was born in New York and didn't move to Australia until he was a teenager. He comes from a family of Irish-Americans.

The English/Irish/Australian guys doing American accents are all good examples.
I'm going to go a different route and say that Matt Damon (for a Northeastern Yankee) does a good Texas accent - he's played Carroll Shelby and been in a few Westerns.
