Yeah, I think I’m in as well.

I’ll also watch some of the great movies about that era:

The Patriot
John Paul Jones
The Devil’s Disciple
The Scarlet Coat
1776
The Howards of Virginia

Might start this weekend. It's always on my list to watch around the holiday. That and The Sandlot.

Of course, but I usually don’t go past Washington’s inauguration because I feel like the show, while still really good, loses its steam after the revolution.

I lose interest when it starts to become medically accurate with gross depictions of ailments. lol.

I alternate every year between this and a lesser known, but very well done, 3-part series called “The Sons of Liberty”. It was on the History Channel about 8 years ago maybe dnd I just think it’s well written and acted. Try it out!

You do realize that the movie was based on the book and was historically accurate?

John Paul Jones
meh

The Devil’s Disciple
amusing dialogue, great performance by Olivier

The Scarlet Coat
ehhh... Nice locations, but not much as drama. I'd love to see the Benedict Arnold story done as a miniseries. He had a hot, slutty wife -- imagine what they could do with that...

1776
poorly directed and mediocre songs, but great dialogue by Peter Stone.

The Howards of Virginia
This is actually pretty bad, as is Allegheny Uprising. The great Drums Along The Mohawk is technically an AR movie, but is mostly about fighting Indians

ehhh... It's not really much of a song. I admit Rutledge doing the slave auctioneer bit as the set goes dark is an effective moment of drama

But that song is a masterpiece compared to "Does Anybody Care?" and "Mama Look Sharp", 2 of the cringily cringiest cringers in the history of the musical theatre,

What makes it great is the accuracy. Everyone profited from the slave trade.
