Terrible delivery in an otherwise excellent movie
I'm came to post this. She isn't the greatest actress but Richard Curtis's script is garbage.

Another entry:
At the end of Mystic River when Penn confesses to his wife and she says something like "it doesn't matter because you're a king and a king protects his family". It felt more like a line of dialogue someone would write rather than something someone would actually say, especially some broad married to a Boston ex-con.

Any line from Pearl Harbor.

quote:ehh... we didn't watch Star Wars for the dialogue, we watched for the action and cool special effects. Kinda like watching a Schwarzenegger film- you KNOW the conversations are cringe, but you don't care.
Nearly anything in Star Wars, all episodes (but some of the newer ones are much worse than others)
Showgirls- basically softcore porn, trying not to be too campy. Bad mix.
But like someone else mentioned- "Martha"
The MCU, with Downey and the rest, significantly raised the bar for superhero films, as far as dialogue. Cavill has had moments of being a solid actor, and hell that's Ben Affleck and Amy Adams onscreen with him at the time. You'd think they'd look at the script and say "no, that's stupid. Like, really stupid, it doesn't make any sense at all.
Nobody about to die will refer to his mother by her name instead of 'mom' or 'my mother', and who in the frick thinks that would even affect Bruce Wayne anyway?"

"And there's the thumb print he left when he pushed the round in the clip."

quote:pretty sure this is a troll but if anyone thinks this is bad dialogue you simply don't understand the movie or conflict resolution. this is the quintessential moment of a movie that helped define the greatest pop culture decade ever, a coming of age story set during the transition of a nation from its previous greatest decade into a turbulent new age.
Nobody puts Baby in a corner"

All of Jessie Spano's lines in Showgirls. Just terrible dialogue and even worse delivery.
You saying that “Versayce” didn’t resonate with you?

A 2-for-1 from the same scene in Dark Phoenix:
“It’s funny… I can’t actually remember the last time you were the one risking something.”
She says to a guy in a wheelchair literally paralyzed from that time he tried to protect his friends and save the world.
“And by the way, the women are always saving the men around here. You might want to think about changing the name to X-Women.”
Cringy, pandering, and just downright factually incorrect, as Nightcrawler and Quicksilver had just done the bulk of the work saving everyone the scene before.

This line is all I think of at the end of that movie. It’s soooooo fingernails on a chalkboard.
