What does Redbox do with all the old DVDs?

I would think they would sell them for cheap but I've never seen any way of buying em.

Just curious.

Pretty sure I've seen the option to buy them at the machine.

Yeah I just didn't think they would sell enough from their inventory that way. Seems they'd have a lot left over.

if everyone is like my wife, then the inventory will have a natural attrition. we have several redbox DVDs at my house bc they were never returned.

I would never pay more than $2 for a used Redbox DVD. About 1 out of every 4 redbox rentals I get are scratched; I imagine at least 50% of the used/for-sell ones are as well.

edit: Although redbox will give you a limited time free-rental or two if you call and let them know you got a scratched DVD; so I'm sure they would give you credits for a scratched DVD if you bought it as well.

I've rented hundreds of red boxes and never had a scratched one. You may need a better DVD player.
