dont get carried away now. he has a few good roles.

I don't think he's the best actor to walk the earth or anything, but he's had more than a few good roles. Off the top of my head:

Seven Years in Tibet
Se7en
12 Monkeys
Snatch
Jesse James
Moneyball
Interview with a Vampire
Benjamin Button
Legends of the Fall
Apparently Tree of Life (never saw it)
And he's perfect as Rusty in the Ocean's movies.

He certainly injects himself into every role he plays, but so does Jack Nicholson. Doesn't mean he's a bad actor or that he's had only a few good roles.

Not everyone is fricking DDL.

who is incredible no doubt, but not every actor (well actually very few actors) set themselves up on a schedule to only make an appearance acting every 3-5 years. if DDL did one or more movies each and every year or didn't take such huge gaps in between his films, then his work wouldn't receive immediate praise like it does now.

now don't get me wrong. I'm a DDL fan. I'm just saying his stubbornness about his roles and schedule adds to a lot of the hype behind him. if Brad Pitt started only doing one film every 4-5 years then he too would receive additional arse kissing.

personally I think this is the route that someone who is consistently ignored by the award voters like Leonardo DiCaprio should take. once he finishes up with The Great Gatsby and The Wolf of Wall Street this year, he should just disappear for about 4-6 years and when making his grand return to film the Oscar would finally be his.

Clearly the correct answer is True Romance.

Not sure if you're trying to argue with me here, but what I was saying is that not every great actor has to disappear into the character like DDL has done in many of his roles and what he is really known for.

Brad Pitt doesn't disappear in his roles. He always comes through in his characters. And that's OK. Many of the best actors in history don't/didn't do what DDL does. Look at Bogart, Stewart, Gable, Douglas, Nicholson, De Niro, Pacino. Hell even Brando.

This is precisely what he's doing. He's publicly stated he's taking an acting hiatus.

Same here. He even stopped on the way out the bar to tell me it was nice meeting me (granted I was right next to the door).

I didnt really care for IB as a whole but enjoyed Pitt a lot in 12 monkeys, Benjamin Button, Fight Club, Snatch, Seven.

Assassination of Jesse James is his best role IMO

Moneyball, Seven, Fight Club all deserve a mention as well

Tristan Ludlow (LOTF) or Paul Mclean (a river runs through it) are my two favorite.

mills (se7en) was probably his best role
