Steven Soderbergh's remake of Solaris starring George Clooney was surprisingly good and remimagined well.

When you take into account that Event Horizon was the favorite movie of Eric Harris, one of the Columbine killers, it makes it that much creepier and unsettling. Just saying, it made that movie 10x darker for me when I found that out
