We Own The Night------Thank God I own the remote....

So I record WE OWN THE NIGHT on the DVR.
Marky walhberg, Joaquin Phoenix and the legendary Robert Duvall.
A crime drama. what can go wrong, right ?
Holy shite, what a train wreck.
Somebody was trying to get their Scorcese on.
Bad idea.
It ended up more like somebody getting their Michael Mann after eating a bag of lead-based paint chips on....
If I had the choice of watching this steaming pile of dogshit, or paying $6.50 to watch an actual steaming pile of dog shite, I would choose the latter.
Thats not to say it doesn't have it's moments, or that it lacked potential. That's what made it so maddening. But it had a relentless sense of forced false urgency and rather than character development it attempted to connect the dots with ridiculous cliches and laughable melodrama.
These are some seriously talented guys.
It just illustrates how hard it is to make a decent film.

Skip it.

The opening scene was the only watchable 5 minutes of the movie.

I don't recall anything about the movie, so I'm sure it sucked.

Eva Mendes panties?
A cool chase scene ?
Joaquin Phoenix overacting ?
Mark wahlberg's totally underdeveloped character?
Horribly shoddy screenwriting?
Equally plodding Direction ?
Scenes banging into scenes, seemingly by mistake?
None of that rings a bell....?

There was an Eva Mendez boob shot in the beginning.
Posted on 9/11/08 at 10:38 am to roscoethetiger
It was a body double. It wasn't Eva.

No, it was definitely Eva. You could see her face and the boob in the same shot. Its not the first time she has been naked in a movie. She was in Training Day.

No. It was a boob double. Fact. Sorry. She was naked in Training Day, but not in this. I saw an interview with her where she was talking about how she got to pick the double.

She chose wisely.

When asked if she used a body double she retorted briskly, " No! My boob is my boob!

yep, i felt like it was a bad rip-off of the departed. still the first scene is very nice w/ eva mendes.

well then she lied in the E! interview I saw with her. I remember it specifically because I was really bummed out

No complaints here, but you should probably put some sort of disclaimer on that link.

I don't see how it is possible to have her face and her boob in the same shot. It is definitely her boob cause it looks exactly the same as the one in Training Day. You were probably too busy looking at her getting finger banged to notice the nipple slip. I watched the movie last night.
