There wasn't a fence while they were in suspension. In the book, the day Pilcher came out of suspension they went exploring and came across the abbies and almost got him due to a foot on snow on the ground and him being weak from his time under.

Part of the system shown in episode 5 or 6 (I think)where Pilcher gives Ethan a tour of the arc.

It was in the preserves that Pilcher had in the arc.

And I guess the 'phone call' with Kate and the outside can now be explained as "she's crazy"

I like the show. Does anybody know if it's a full show or a mini series? How many episodes are left for this season? Will there be a second season?

I'm still not convinced they are in the future, I believe there is some mind frickery afoot. I think the doc created these abbies and is using this as some grand social experiment. I bet there is a outer fence beyond the fence we know about to keep them contained.

It has to be something like that. Also seems like the last two episodes will have to explain A LOT

It's a 10 episode mini series. They have burned through a LOT of the book content already.

Anyone have thoughts about the latest episode (9)?

Haven't read the books, so don't want any final spoilers, but I've kept up with the show. I knew that there was more to Pilcher than altruism or even a benevolent God complex. I assumed that he had some hand in inadvertently creating the Abbies and therefore felt responsible. Now I'm more of the mind that he saw the end coming, did everything straightforward (as the show suggests) but then developed a malevolent God complex with regard to the people he chose to "recruit." I think he's playing this like the "father" in the Matrix reloaded. He has a fairly large stock of people and will keep destroying and rebuilding "Wayward Pines" until he gets whatever result satisfies his ego or whatever it is he's looking for.

And I defended the dude for pretty much the entire show (all the way through the end of episode 8. Apparently in the books he's much less "complicated" and just a straight-up tyrant.

He is definitely a tyrant in the books. He was under the impression that everyone owes their lives to him and he should be worshiped as a god. It seems like the last episode is going to cover the entire 3rd book. I won't give any spoilers, but there is a MAJOR point from the books that hasn't been addressed in the show yet.

Anybody watch tonight?

I really liked that ending. Is there another book to make season 2?

I only like the finale if there is a season 2 otherwise I'm kinda disappointed. And as hot as Carla Gugino is I feel like maybe she was miscast, she looks awkward handling a gun and trying to give orders.

It was a twilight zone kind of ending, but they left themselves an open for another season. I don't know what the ratings were but I dug it.

I agree and was cool with it.

According to the showrunner, there have been "There is no official season two yet, no talks yet. Nothing to report on that front."

I'd rather it just stick to the one season but I'm sure it'll continue on. Not sure who the new male lead would be though. Ben can't carry that show and you know a woman can't. Unless it's Buffy or Alias Garner. Then I'm all aboard.

With Wayward Pines finished, so far showrunner Chad Hodges says none of it was setting up a second season, “it was never designed to have a Season 2. It was always these 10 episodes.” However, Hodge sounds like he’s willing to consider working on a second season.

It's happening.

Just watched from DVR. The ending was artistically well done, but I was not happy with it. I saw it coming when Pam and Kate were talking about how things would be "different." Kind of foreboding, especially with those little fricking brownshirts having that stash of weapons.

I'm going to go ahead and say that's a spoiler.

But I agree. Matt Dillon killed that role. Be hard to replace him.

Blake Crouch said there wouldn't be a fourth book. . Read about 9 questions down.

Even if there was, the ending to the show was VASTLY different from the end of the third book. Did I like the ending? Meh. The book ending was MUCH better.
