Watchmen the HBO series had very little to say about black trauma.
Had a lot to say about black men loving the downlow.

This is the character arc that I mentioned earlier. Alonso asked for reasons to dislike the show and I mentioned Hooded Justice' story. You take a black family man with a wife and kid and turn him gay. Not just gay, but interracially gay, servicing a white supremacist. On what planet does this make any sense at all? There's only two black male characters in the whole show. The first they turn into a white-arse loving KKK-fricking queer. The other is Dr. Manhattan, who says maybe ten words the whole series and then gets killed off. The only two black men in the show get completely emasculated. Not to mention the only black person even attempting to fight injustice is a black woman. The show very much tells us what Hollywood thinks of black men. Right, Alonso? Hollywood liberals think you're whitey-loving downlow queers that can't or won't support your families and need women to fight your battles for you. This is the narrative about black men that you support and defend.

Tulsa was an actual goddamned atrocity that actually happened and most people aren't even aware of it. It was a fine backdrop for this show and it didn't play a racial agenda.
i do admit that i didn't hear about it till my 30s, but the whole thing is pretty well known at this point. people have been saying that nobody knows about Tulsa Riots for 10+ years now.
my kids know about it. they also know about Emmett Till and Ruby Bridges.
I can still call out dumb race baiting bullshite that they try to tie to conservatives when i see it.

It's a fine backdrop if you just want to racially divide people until there's no civility left. That's what we call a racial agenda. Your community college professor failed to teach you how to "spot" that.

I never watched the show, but according to Alan Moore, the only person who understands his work is Alan Moore.
He is a bit of a cock waffle. Half of it seems to be PR, when he was writing indie comics for big bucks he wasn't shy about admitting to his bosses that yes "this comic is a teen titans ripoff". Part of it is he's just a really weird and miserable prick.

Alan Moore of the 80s: 'member Marvelman/Miracleman? I could totally write something kickass with him. Oh, and the old Charlton heroes? What if I made them, like, angsty about superheroing? Oh yeah! Swamp Thing! I could reimagine what he even is!
