re: Val Kilmer was an underrated Batman. I think he would have done awesome under a Nolan type

I love Batman Forever.
Seal - Kiss from a Rose, Jim Carrey in his prime, smoke show Kidman, etc.
It just brings back such nostalgic memories of the 90’s and those awesome McDonalds mugs with each of the characters on it.

Off-topic but Batman Returns is wild. Some of the stuff that made it into that movie is surprising even for the 1990s.
Some pretty overt BDSM / dominatrix themes in scenes between Catwoman and the Penguin. The leather and the whip. They didn't make Burton tone it down at all.
And otherwise pretty dark fare and graphic violence for a movie marketed to kids.
Might be my favorite, though. Love the winter setting and Pfeiffer is the GOAT Catwoman.

the soundtrack is awesome
The Batman theme that Danny Elfman composed for '89 and Returns is obviously iconic, but you can't tell me the main title theme composed by Elliot Goldenthal for Batman Forever wasn't bad arse in its own right:

The movie poster puzzle for Batman Returns was hard as frick.

I think the perception of this movie gets hurt because of Batman & Robin. This is a fun comic book movie. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Forever was all over the place. At times it was as dark and atmospheric as the Burton films, but at times it was almost as gaudy and cartoonish as B&R. Lots of neon and blacklight stuff. It's not near as bad as B&R but I think a lot of you are misremembering how goofy some of it was

Val was the best Bruce Wayne of that original run of Batman. He was ideal for that role. Keaton was the best Batman because he had that crazy look in his eyes.
Batman Forever suffers because Tommy Lee Jones is terribly miscast as Two Face and his character has no depth at all throughout the film. Jim Carey kills it as the Riddler and really carries the movie as the villain.
If it hadn’t tried to hard to shoehorn in Robin, and been more like the darker Batman Returns, the movie would be a 90s classic instead of an in between.

100% disagree. I thought Pattinson was excellent as a younger take on Bruce Wayne/Batman. I'd put him #2 behind Bale. Keaton has just never done it as Batman for me. It isn't his acting, he just doesn't look the part.

I actually agree. Only Clooney was worse IMO.

I agree that he didn't quite fit the Bruce Wayne mold, but I thought he looked perfect in the cowl

No. That was Clooney.
ETA. Never mind. It was Kilmer. Could have sworn it was Clooney.

that Batman creator Bob Kane cited Val Kilmer's performance in "Batman Forever" as his favorite interpretation of the character.
