Atonement

I put Marianelli’s score for P&P above instead of this one because it won the Oscar. But it’s brilliant.

Film produced by James William Guercio - also producer of the band Chicago. The extended improvised trombone parts are by none other than James Pankow. The band members performed on the soundtrack and also had parts in the film. It includes the song "Tell Me" by Terry Kath, which could easily have been on a Chicago album. Here are some excerpts. I had the vinyl album and preferred to play "Overture" at 1.5x normal speed, which gave me a fist-thrusting inspirational lift, ready to enter an arena and compete.

Also, if you love violin-heavy scores, I'd recommend a film that few people ever saw despite winning the Oscar for Original Score in 1999: The Red Violin.
