Watched it for the first time tonight. I know it’s dated but I thoroughly enjoyed it but noticed it only has 60% on RT.

How does the M/TV board view this one? I found it genuinely heartwarming if not a little cheesy. It’s very Spielberg so if you hate those movie magic moments that happen only in movies that he often throws in then maybe you didn’t enjoy it. I also felt like Stanley Tucci’s character was a little one note. Otherwise, it’s a damn solid movie IMO.

All the characters were kind of one note. But it was an ok movie. Not something i would go out of my way to watch.

Eh some of them. Diego Luna’s character I can see. But Gupta, Navorski and Amelia had quality depth to their characters.

I can see how most view it as an OK movie. I’m not saying it’s Best Picture worthy but I also don’t think it gets mentioned enough. It’s a solid movie

One of Spielberg's truly underrated projects. Every time it's on, I will watch it. The final scenes when he leaves and goes into New York during Christmas is kind of magical and kicks in you in the teeth emotionally.

In fact, Spielberg's entire early-mid 00s run was pretty incredible, yet kind of overlooked.

2002 - Minority Report
2002- Catch Me If You Can
2004 - The Terminal
2005 - Munich (one of my personal favorites of his)
2005 - War of the Worlds (not near his greatest but was still a big deal at the time)

For 99% of all other directors, that's basically a career of Doubles and Triples, yet Spielberg did it in less than 5 years and we don't look at any of those films anywhere near his career Apex.

The 00s same decade he also did A.I. (not really his film, but one he finished for Kubrick) and Crystal Skulls, which, looking back, basically signified the end of his career as a great director and has since kind of semi-retired by doing so many Cgi-heavy pictures where most of the work is done by studio effects people and he just helms the ship.

It is dated because half the retail stores in the movie no longer exist.

But I like the movie. It has always grabbed my attention. The cast is good.

And like the other poster said, Spielberg had a nice run in the early 00s.

Jesus what a list. I still need to watch Munich. I watched Catch Me If You Can about a month ago and loved it too.

I’ve always been a sucker for War of the Worlds as well.

It’s a sentimental favorite of mine.

It’s one of those movies you can watch when you’re home sick from work and it makes you feel better.

The annoying son was a 10/10 on the "how 2005 are you" scale.

October Sky, one of my favorite films. Old but the original "The In-laws" with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin is very under-appreciated. I would also throw in Midnight Run with DeNiro and Grodin. It's a great comedy.
