The Naomi chick looked so far gone at the end. Had that 1000 yard dead eye stare. Glad she came to her senses but she’ll likely never be the same

She's gone. You can look in her eyes and see she's vacant. She actually looks like a Manson follower.

I’m surprised he didn’t piss on himself, he was so scared that he couldn’t even put together a complete sentence when the cops were first asking him questions.

And the incompetence of law enforcement to put Naomi in the same cell as Sam.

Spoilers:

One of a few colossal failures of law-enforcement. I found it interesting once the FBI got involved… they totally shite all over the local police department for not investigating this much sooner when they had so much audio/video evidence of Sam confessing to passing around his underage wives like a peace pipe to frick these older men (who were his buddies funneling profits from their successful businesses into his own pockets).

I think Colorado city has less than 10 people on the police force and they were essentially WAY in over their head, but had too much pride to admit that and ask for help from a larger department with more experience…. Just like the JonBenét Ramsey investigation debacle.

When they were interviewing the local sheriff, he was saying that what he was hearing and seeing was disturbing and that’s where he left it. I was thinking Well of course it’s disturbing because he’s sex trafficking young kids!

We got so pissed off hearing that cop just talk about it like it was nothing, he admitted that it didn’t feel right, but he didn’t want to do anything about it.

The dude was something else. I know... cult and societal conditioning and all that... but how he attracted followers is beyond me (despite me arguing earlier that he was basically absolving other people's guilty consciences for breaking Jeffs bans on sex and kids).

I mean, he was such a fricking goofball. Someone compared him to Napoleon Dynamite earlier, and that's somewhat apt. He's like that dude we all knew in high school who was obsessed with throwing stars and ninjitsu and shite but everyone just made fun of. The documentary makers and other FLDS people even talk about him dismissively and their perception of him prior to starting his Samulite sect as being a "goofball" and not anyone with the respect of the community.

there are only like two thousand people in that town - a town which is world famous for its FLDS population...a population which is world famous for 1) plural marraige and 2) fricking underage girls.

those cops know exactly who is doing what to whom in that city, and in all likelihood they are involved themselves.

The girls singing when the cops were trying to remove them from the situation was both cringe and creepy at the same time. What a weird world they live in

I imagine there’s all sorts of other weird and crazy shite that Tolga and Christine recorded that didn’t make it into the documentary

Agreed. He was emotionally stunted. Someone earlier mentioned filming the "hiking" and dirtbiking...he reminded me of a 5 year old kid being like, "mom! watch how fast I can run!"

The white leather jacket was ridiculous. As was the Bentley.

I'm glad Maroni (what a name) turned on him and came clean to the feds. I do wish that he would have also come to his senses about the douchiness of the bluetooth earpiece. I cringe everytime I see someone wearing one ALL THE TIME.

When some of the girls spoke, their speech sounded similar to that of a deaf person. I don't know how else to describe it or what in the world would cause it. Inbreeding? Very strange.

Fascinating and sad documentary. Very admirable of Christine to help free those girls and women.

I think it was just from the sheltered life they lived. They were never around highly educated people so they only learned to talk from each other, and I suspect Sam had things on lockdown in terms of what television shows and movies they were allowed to watch.

But I agree, hearing them talk was very sad, they all sounded about half the age they actually were.

I found it interesting that Naomi spent so much time in jail. She was totally brainwashed, maybe more than any of the other girls, I was really surprised that she served any time at all. Hearing her talk about she did whatever she had to do to submit, she was brainwashed from early age that the only way to get into heaven was through Sam (the prophet) and by following every single one of his commands no matter what the ask was. I can’t believe the defense did not latch onto that and get her arse out of jail.

She was so brainwashed that I was really surprised to see her in normal clothes in the last episode.

Did I hear correctly at the end of the series that several of the older mothers went to prison?

Everyone involved in that sect should be in prison.

I’m on the fence whether or not he truly believed he would meet (then rule over) the Queen, or if he was just saying it to his followers to gain credibility.

It’s pretty fricking wild either way

That dude was a piece of work

I laughed when the husband admitted how he had to act impressed with the guy while he was “rock hiking” and jumping small hills on the dirt bike.
